7 Days: God Made Your Body
Seven short readings for individuals, families or small groups. Read one each morning, answer the question, and pray the prayer. Pair it with the Stewards, Not Owners group lesson.
Day 1: God made you
“And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.” (Gen 1:31)
Before sin, before sickness, before the first diet ad, God looked at the human body and called it very good. That verdict hasn’t been cancelled. Your body is not an accident or a disappointment to God. It was His idea.
Reflect: Where do you tend to see your body as a problem rather than a gift?
Pray: Lord, thank You for making me. Help me see my body the way You do.
Day 2: Fearfully and wonderfully made
“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Ps 139:14)
David didn’t write this in front of a mirror. He wrote it thinking about God’s care in forming him before birth. Being “wonderfully made” isn’t about how you look. It’s about who made you and how carefully He did it.
Reflect: Try praying Psalm 139:14 out loud today. What feels hard about saying it?
Pray: Father, I praise You for how You formed me. Replace my harsh words about my body with thanksgiving.
Day 3: Not your own
“You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” (1 Cor 6:19–20)
If you belong to Jesus, the Holy Spirit lives in you. Your body is His dwelling place, and it was bought with His blood. That makes you a steward, not an owner. A steward doesn’t neglect what he’s been trusted with, and he doesn’t worship it either.
Reflect: What is one way you could care for your body this week as a steward?
Pray: Jesus, thank You for buying me. My body is Yours. Show me how to honor You in it.
Day 4: A living sacrifice
“Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” (Rom 12:1)
Paul calls the offering of our bodies “spiritual worship.” Worship isn’t just singing on Sunday. It’s how you use your hands, feet, time and energy all week long, including how you eat and rest.
Reflect: What would it look like to offer your body to God as you start each day?
Pray: Lord, I present my body to You today: my eyes, hands, feet, appetite and energy. Use them for Your glory.
Day 5: Received with thanks
“Everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving.” (1 Tim 4:4)
Food isn’t your enemy, and it isn’t your savior. It’s a gift. Gratitude puts food in its right place. When you stop to give thanks, you remember who fed you, and you tend to eat more slowly and more wisely.
Reflect: Pray a specific thank-you before each meal today. What do you notice?
Pray: Father, thank You for daily bread. Teach me to receive every meal with gratitude and self-control.
Day 6: Rest is trust
“He gives to his beloved sleep.” (Ps 127:2)
When Elijah was exhausted, God gave him sleep and food before He gave him a word. Rest is not laziness. When you lie down to sleep, you admit you’re not God, and you trust Him to hold what you can’t.
Reflect: What keeps you from resting well? What could you let go of tonight?
Pray: Lord, I give You my worries and my to-do list. Give me the gift of sleep, and help me trust You.
Day 7: A body with a future
“[He] will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body.” (Phil 3:21)
Christians don’t hope to escape the body. We hope for its resurrection. The body you have now, with all its weakness, is a seed of the body you’ll have forever. That brings hope in suffering and purpose in how you live today.
Reflect: How does the promise of resurrection change how you think about your body?
Pray: Jesus, thank You that You will make all things new, even my body. Help me live today in that hope.
